This week we have seen upheaval! Revolution! CPR instructors are rising up to stab the American Heart Association with their plastic forks! Okay, maybe the plastic fork bit is a slight exaggeration, undoubtedly fueled by rumors that the AHA is subliminally slandering ambulances by changing the foundational mnemonic from ABC to CAB. Yet that wasn’t the only hot topic in the EMS Blogosphere this week…
- Adam Thompson gives us the 2010 AHA Guidelines in plain english and also links to the full PDF version for those who want to crack open the chest on the matter
- Jamie Davis and Tom Bouthillet interview Dr. Monica Kleinman about the Emergency Cardiovascular Care 2010 Update. This is a great interview and really gets to the meat of the issue without cracking the chest wide open too much
- Rogue Medic commented on the aforementioned interview in part one and part two. I can add nothing else other than I heard the FDA say, “Ooh to the eeh the ooh the aah aah to the ting to the tang the wallawalla bingbang”
- Coma Toast wonders if CPR is equatable to brain surgery, or does he?
- TOTWTYTR talks about awards and accolades that matter the most
- Jim Hoffman tackles a tough subject in documentation asking How Do You Cross Your T’s? This is going to become a bigger and important topic in everyone’s agency very shortly so get a jump on it now
- Droid Medic goes over important patient/Droid etiquette. With the proliferation of smartphones, not explaining what you’re doing may lead some to assume the worst
- Greg Friese interviews Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren At A Time author Michael Perry who is a full time freelance writer. Personally, I’m all about the sneezing cow
- EMS Outside Agitator has the conclusion of a seven part book review on Cheating Death. Obviously Oprah ain’t got nothing on Russ
- Jonathan wisely explains that you don’t need to be Batman to provide good care. You do however need to be Batman if you have any hopes of hooking up with Vicky Vale. Just sayin’
- Mark Glencourse has proudly announced the UK based Ambulance Matters podcast is live! You can tune in to the discussion from across the pond at the Ambulance Matters site
And finally…
- Medic Trommashere throws mechanism of injury as the determining criteria for medevac usage under the bus with a little help from the Freeway Patrol…
…because isn’t your life worth a mere $17,000?
Have a great weekend!!!
